Our Commitment to Transparency

On behalf of everyone serving the Capt. Sax Foundation, we wanted to thank each of you for your generous support. Our hope is that we will continue to be worthy of your generosity in the years to come, knowing that it is earned through our dedication to integrity, transparency, and upholding our mission to honor Capt. John Sax by supporting the communities that he was so incredibly proud to be a part of.

This page was created with that commitment in mind. The Capt. Sax Foundation was founded in 2022 by Amber Sax, the surviving spouse of Capt. John J. Sax.  We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and a registered Charitable Trust with the State of California Office of the Attorney General.  Our EIN number is 88-3929193.

Some other important things that we want our donors to know:  When John's wife established this foundation, she placed great emphasis on ensuring our donors are aware that each dollar they contribute is exclusively directed towards honoring Capt. John Sax through the provision of aviation scholarships in his name. To achieve this, our foundation operates entirely with the support of volunteers. All expenses incurred by the foundation, with the exception of transaction fees, are personally covered by John's wife, unless a donor expressly designates their contribution to a specific expense. This has also allowed us to ensure that each dollar donated goes directly into the Capt. Sax Scholarship fund, as well as 100% of the purchase price of each item sold from our memorial shop. This structural approach guarantees transparency, assuring our donors that every generous donation directly funds aviation scholarships for our deserving recipients.
