Memorial Day: Honor the Fallen

A man in sunglasses and a backpack is smiling.

This photo was taken by John’s wife, Amber, following his final flight in the T-6 Texan II at NAS Pensacola. The smile on his face was one that came from a place of deep gratitude – he did it, he would be moving forward in his flight training onto the next leg, and one step closer to his lifelong dream of earning his “Wings of Gold.â€

Memories such as this are what we hope will be remembered in the forefront of the minds of those that know John and learn about his story, as they are the among the greatest representations of the life he lived.

To take a quote from his Eulogy, written by his wife, “John lived a life without complaints, without regrets. He lived the life that he had crafted and that he had chosen, and that is something we can all be so grateful for… John would want us to try, as much as possible, to focus on what on he did have. Focus on the fact that he accomplished his dream and was living his dream.â€

In honor of Memorial Day, we hope those remembering loved ones lost will take a moment to reflect on how they lived, and our love for them that carries us forward. That is how we ensure their light continues to shine and will never be extinguished, with a reach beyond our comprehension as we continue to say their names and share their stories.
