17 More Scholarships Awarded in Honor of Capt. John J. Sax

Our Q1 2025 board meeting has just wrapped, and with it, the third round of Capt. Sax Scholarships has officially been awarded. This is always one of the most meaningful moments for our board – coming together to read applications, share stories, and honor Capt. John J. Sax, USMC, by supporting those chasing dreams in the field of aviation.
This round, we’re grateful to share that we’ve issued 17 aviation scholarships to students and aspiring professionals working toward careers across the aviation industry—pilots, engineers, mechanics, air traffic controllers, and more.
What’s Next for Recipients
If you were selected, you can expect a phone call in the next few days from one of our board members or from Amber Sax, John’s wife and the Executive Director of the Foundation. After that, recipients will receive an email with details on scholarship disbursement and next steps.
We can’t wait to see where your journey leads and are honored to walk a small part of it with you.
For Those Not Selected This Round
To those who were not selected, we want to express our gratitude. We know how much thought and heart goes into these applications, and it means a lot that you trusted us with your story. This round brought in our highest number of applicants yet, and the decisions were incredibly difficult.
We want to strongly encourage you to apply again for our next round. The application deadline is June 15, 2025, and there’s a checkbox on the form to indicate that you’re a returning applicant. Since launching this program, we’ve awarded five scholarships to applicants who weren’t selected the first time – something we hope speaks to the spirit of Capt. John Sax and how he never gave up on his goals, especially when it came to flying.
Continuing to Grow
As the scholarship program grows, so does our gratitude – to our supporters, our board, our donors, and every applicant who makes this mission more meaningful. We started this foundation to carry on John’s legacy of service, mentorship, and passion for aviation. Every scholarship we award is one more way we get to honor him.
Thank you to everyone who makes this possible.
“With all we do, we honor him.“
Semper Fidelis.
