Latest Scholarship Round: Applicants Have Been Notified

NEW IG SIZING Capt. John Sax Foundation Template (3)

All applicants from our latest Capt Sax Foundation scholarship round have now been notified of their selection.

This was an incredibly difficult round. Each application represented a person pursuing a meaningful place in aviation, often while carrying the weight of significant financial hurdles. Many of our applicants are working toward flight training, while others are studying fields related to aeronautical engineering, air traffic control, aviation maintenance, or other paths that are critical to the success and safety of each flight. From aircraft rental and instructor fees to simulators, coursework, lab costs, tools, supplies, and so much more, the cost of pursuing these goals can be significant.

Capt Sax understood many of those challenges firsthand. Before earning his wings as a Marine, John was able to partially fund his own civilian flight training through grants, scholarships, working as a student employee, and student loans – a path so many of our applicants know well.
The mission of the Capt Sax Foundation is to honor his legacy by helping lighten that load for others. We are deeply grateful to every applicant who entrusted us with their story, and we do not take that lightly.

For those who were not selected this round, we hope you will continue applying. This round, we were grateful to award scholarships to two returning applicants, and we hope to continue that momentum in future rounds. Our next application cutoff is June 15.

To every applicant pursuing their dreams so relentlessly, thank you. Capt Sax pursued his own dreams with that same determination throughout his life, and he would be so proud of each of our applicants and recipients, as all of us at the Capt Sax Foundation are.

In the coming weeks, we will be sharing more stories from past Capt John Sax Scholarship recipients and highlighting the impact of this community’s support. This mission is only possible because of you, and we are so deeply grateful.
