Removing Financial Barriers

Removing financial barriers for those pursuing aviation dreams is at the heart of our mission. Apply for a Capt John Sax Scholarship today.

One of the hardest things is having a dream you believe in, and not yet having the resources to pursue it.

Many of our applicants know that feeling. They are working, studying, applying for aid, relying on family support, taking out loans, searching for grants, and doing everything they can to keep moving forward.

For those who have lived that, or watched someone they love chase a path that called to them, you understand.

For many outside the aviation community, the cost of training is rarely seen or understood. We rely on pilots, maintainers, air traffic controllers, and other aviation professionals every day, often without realizing the sacrifice, discipline, and financial commitment behind their path.

AOPA estimates that earning a private pilot certificate alone can cost $6,000 to $20,000 or more, and many students do not finish at the FAA minimum required hours. For those pursuing aviation maintenance, technical training, or aviation-related degrees, the path can also include tuition, tools, testing fees, equipment, and time away from paid work.

The gap can be significant, and the need is real. According to Boeing’s Pilot and Technician Outlook, the global aviation industry will need 660,000 new pilots and 710,000 new maintenance technicians over the next 20 years.

These, and so many more, are the reasons we believe aviation dreams should not be limited by financial barriers.

If you are able to help support our mission, every donation helps move a recipient closer to the dream they are working hard to reach. It extends much further than financial support – receiving a scholarship is encouragement to keep going.

We believe in that responsibility deeply, which is why we offer a 100% donation guarantee: every dollar donated goes directly to our scholarship recipients. Our executive director personally covers overhead and operating expenses so donated funds stay focused on the mission.

To everyone who has supported this work, thank you. If you are unable to give financially, sharing our posts, spreading the word, or encouraging someone pursuing aviation matters more than you know.

Clear skies and tailwinds.
